First Single Bundle ACL surgery performed in Australia

We have recently announced that we have entered into the U.S. and Australian sports medicine market (pdf press release Medacta Enters U.S. and Australian Sports Medicine Market with Dynamic Lineup of Surgical Solutions) and we are now proud to communicate that our first Single Bundle ACL has been successfully performed by Mr. Timothy Whitehead in Australia. 

 

The surgery took place at the Epworth Private Hospital in Melbourne on August 28th utilising our MectaScrew PEEK for tibial fixation and Medacta Femoral Button. “The new Medacta screwdriver design, with sharp threads at the tip, facilitates an easy start and insertion of the MectaScrew PEEK” said Mr. Whitehead.
The MectaScrew PEEK Interference Screw is one of Medacta’s most recent sports medicine offerings. In July we obtained the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) registration and received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The MectaScrew is intended to be used for knee arthroscopy and is indicated for reconstructive treatment of ruptured anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments for hamstring and bone-tendon-bone repairs.
This is an important milestone for the Medacta sports medicine division and confirms our aim and commitment to growing our portfolio in sports medicine.
